Scientific Focus

  1. Local connectivity of excitatory and inhibitory neurons and their adaptions upon network perturbations.
  2. Influence of sensory deprivation (e.g. hearing loss) on cortical neurons on a single cell level.
  3. Translational research of mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and structure/function correlations in physiological and pathological conditions.
  4. Electrophysiological and microscopic characterization of single neurons in neurosurgical sections of the human neocortex.
  5. Development of cell culture models for translational and personalized research.
