Scientific Writing for PhD and other students

The maximum number of participant for this lecture has been reached. If you are interested to participate in a future session, please contact Dr. Leenaars

Most Ph.D. and many M.Sc. students are expected to present their work in the form of scientific papers, but how do you write a good paper? Should you use US or UK English? How to start writing? How to prevent eternal editing? What should be in, and in how much detail? How do you present your data in a clear manner? How to refer and cite? How to use abbreviations? How to write a good discussion? How to manage the comments from your supervisors and co-authors?

Cathalijn Leenaars, scientist at the ZTL, worked for 2,5 years as a scientific writer for an international company and has been writing scientific texts for 18 years. The lecture is intended for those who have to start writing scientific papers. It provides useful tips and examples on what to do and what to avoid. There will be ample of time for addressing specific questions that you may have.

Participants: PhD and M.Sc. students of the Institute for Laboratory Animal Science, as well as R2N and FOR 2591 networks // Others interested are also welcome.
