Together with the Clinic for Obstetrics and Gynecology the Neonatology (premature and newborn medicine) forms a
Perinatal Center Level 1, which corresponds to the highest level of care in perinatal medicine. In the case of a high-risk pregnancy, the mother and the unborn child are cared for together by obstetricians and pediatricians as part of a differentiated prenatal diagnostic procedure during pregnancy. This interdisciplinary cooperation also ensures that the flow of information at the interface between obstetrics and pediatric clinic functions at an optimum.
After discharge, these children continue to be cared for in our premature infant aftercare outpatient clinic. In addition to the care provided by the pediatrician in private practice, we offer families a comprehensive developmental neurological follow-up examination.
We cooperate closely with the other clinics and institutes of the Hanover Medical School in order to ensure comprehensive interdisciplinary care for complex diseases.
In the monitor consultation hour, we care for infants with respiratory regulation disorders and/or lung diseases that require home monitoring. Furthermore, outpatient diagnostic pulse oximetries can be performed.
