Tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by mycobacteria. Most frequently the lung is affected by tuberculosis, but other organs can also be affected, especially in children. Children have a much higher risk of contracting tuberculosis than adults.
In our outpatient clinic infants, children and adolescents (0-18 years) who are suspected of having tuberculosis or who have had contact with a person with tuberculosis are examined and treated. This requires a skin and/or blood test and often also X-ray.
If the outpatient care is not sufficient, an inpatient examination and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with tuberculosis is possible on the children's ward (ward 63).
