Kidney Transplantation

In cases of advanced chronic kidney disease, kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for many patients. Our Department of Nephrology and Hypertension is responsible for the evaluation of patients for kidney transplantation. We also provide medical care during hospitalization for kidney transplantation and post-transplant follow-up care. This is carried out in close interdisciplinary collaboration within the Transplant Center of Hannover Medical School, particularly with colleagues from the Department of General, Visceral, and Transplant Surgery. With 130–150 kidney transplants performed annually, MHH is one of the largest kidney transplant centers in Germany.
