The excellent performance in teaching is reflected in the fact that the Hanover Biomedical Research School of the MHH - the promotion of young scientists - is also supported by the Excellence Initiative. The number of applicants show that the MHH's model course in human medicine is particularly popular with first-year students. 3.000 young people study at the MHH.
Since the winter semester 2005/2006, the Hanover Medical School has been offering the HannibaL model study program. Here the patient and his or her illness are placed at the center of the training right from the start. The individual topics are treated in modules, which are divided into quintiles of seven weeks each. The first contact with pediatrics is already made in the 2nd year of study within the module "Diagnostic Methods I". Here, students are taught how to deal with parents and how to examine little patients on the children's wards.
In the 4th year of study a two-week lecture in pediatrics is given. Especially for the pediatric teaching a POL (problem oriented learning) in small groups with tutor was introduced. In the subsequent one-week block practical training on a ward, students can familiarize themselves with the most common of these clinical pictures directly with the patient in small groups of 3-4 participants each. In the last year of studies, students who choose the subject pediatrics during the practical year are intensively prepared for medical work with children and adolescents as patients.
Clinical trainees are very welcome on all our wards and in the various functional areas of our clinic. Please contact the secretary's office of Prof. Hansen for more detailed information.
Those interested in a doctoral thesis can contact the heads of the individual research groups directly. Doctoral theses in the Children's Hospital can also be carried out as part of a structured program within the Hanover University of Applied Sciences Excellence Initiative via the Hanover Biomedical Research School (HBRS). A written application to the HBRS office is required.
Student assistants are always being sought in various areas of the clinic and research. Please check our website regularly or send an application to the office of Prof. Hansen.
