Organisation
Basic structure
The Center for Preclinical Imaging is located in a separate area in the Nuclear Medicine building K7 (level U0). In addition to the PET-CT and SPECT-CT imaging rooms, laboratory space is available for the preparation and follow-up of examinations. The independent functionality of the area is complemented by additional rooms for data processing, project meetings, storage and animal husbandry.
The supply of radiopharmaceuticals for various examinations, as well as quality control and implementation of radiation protection, is optimally implemented due to the direct proximity to Radiochemistry/Radiopharmacy and the Radiation Protection/Medical Physics Unit. The department is operated in close coordination with the central animal laboratory of the MHH.
A permanent staff (laboratory manager, technical assistants, laboratory technician) supervises the area on site and implements the tests. There is also a steering group to regulate overarching issues.
Research projects
The techniques of the Center for Preclinical Molecular Imaging are available to other research groups for cooperative projects.
Information can be obtained from the center staff.
The procedure for a joint project is as follows:
1) If there is serious interest, details of the planned project will be provided on the project request form. The completed form will be forwarded to Dr. J. Bankstahl, head of the area, or Prof. Dr. F. Bengel, director of the department.
2) This is followed by advice on feasibility/financing and joint planning of the project. The center's employees provide support with the necessary regulatory measures and with applications for approval and fundraising.
3) The jointly developed project plan will be implemented as soon as all necessary approvals have been obtained. Imaging is carried out by employees of the center and the data collected is evaluated jointly.
