Preclinical Molecular Imaging
The Center for Preclinical Molecular Imaging was put into operation in mid-2012. It represents an important building block in the overall translational concept of the Department of Nuclear Medicine.
Two large-scale research devices supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) are operated here. A high-resolution PET-CT camera and a SPECT-CT camera are used to establish new molecular imaging techniques in the preclinical, experimental environment and thus create the basis for clinical application.
The center also offers a broad spectrum of established techniques and is available to MHH research groups and external groups as part of collaborations to strengthen their projects through innovative molecular in vivo imaging.
In an assessment by the funding body DFG in June 2015, the use of the large-scale research equipment was awarded the rare top rating of "excellent" due to the scientific quality of the work, the capacity utilization and the existing range of collaborations.
