Dear visitors,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to the Institute for Neuroanatomy and Cell Biology at the Hannover Medical School!
Anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body. We understand the structure and the complex interaction of individual components as the essential basis for the function of an organism. Neuroanatomy is specifically concerned with the structure/function relationships in the central and peripheral nervous system. In the center of our interest are adaptive reactions in our nervous system (= synaptic plasticity), which can be influenced by physiological and pathological events. Our focus here is on questions of neurosensor technology, neuroinflammation and infection, lesion-mediated network reorganization and the development of translational neuroscientific approaches with therapeutic relevance.
As part of the Center for Anatomy, we offer a substantial proportion of cell biological, microscopic and macroscopic anatomical teaching in the degree programs in medicine, dentistry and biomedicine. The focus of our teaching concept is the early linking of the anatomical principles of medicine and dentistry with clinical content. In addition to the practical events on the basics of cell biology, the preparation and microscopy courses, the range of services of the institute includes the implementation of sonographic courses and curricular scientific modules for our students.
In this sense, our anatomical work at the Institute of Neuroanatomy and Cell Biology aims to provide our students with the best possible education and to ensure patient-oriented research by combining research and teaching. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
With best regards
Yours, Maximilian Lenz
