Settlement at the state labour court: negotiations will continue until 31 October 2024
In the dispute over relief for employees at Hannover Medical School (MHH), the state of Lower Saxony, MHH and the trade union Verdi agreed today (10/16/2024) before the Lower Saxony State Labour Court to continue negotiations until 31 October 2024. At the same time, it was agreed that Verdi will not call any further strikes in October.
‘Every day of strike action that is avoided is positive for MHH patients,’ said Vice President Prof Dr Frank Lammert. ‘I am therefore pleased that we have agreed today before the regional court on further negotiations that will not be accompanied by strikes. We have also already jointly discussed the procedure for further negotiations. I am optimistic that we will reach a sustainable solution in the interests of our employees, which will also enable us to fulfil our care mandate.’
On Monday, the Hanover Labour Court upheld the action brought by the state of Lower Saxony, represented by MHH, for an interim injunction, thereby prohibiting the strike days planned by Verdi on 17 and 18 October 2024. Verdi had appealed against the decision. Today, the MHH was affected by an all-day warning strike.
