Since the beginning of May, successor to Professor Schlegelberger

The Department of Human Genetics of Hannover Medical School (MHH) has a new director: Professor Dr. Nataliya Di Donato took over the management of Professor Dr. Brigitte Schlegelberger at the beginning of the month. The 43-year-old specialist in human genetics previously worked as deputy director of the Institute of Clinical Genetics at the University Hospital of the Technical University of Dresden. "We are pleased that we were able to win such a proven human geneticist for this management task and to strengthen our priorities," emphasizes MHH President Professor Dr. Michael Manns. "We wish Professor Di Donato every success." At the same time, he thanked the predecessor Professor Schegelberger for her many years of work and the many impulses she has set.
Nataliya Di Donato studied at the Medical University of Kharkiv, Ukraine, and received her doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2007. In 2014, she went to the Seattle Children's Research Institute in the USA for one year as part of a DFG research scholarship. Most recently, she worked in Dresden as a research group leader, deputy head of the institute and deputy speaker of the University Center for Rare Diseases. "The MHH offers an excellent opportunity to combine patient care and translational research," says Professor Di Donato.
