From the MHH

The Hannover Children's University is starting the new winter semester

Hanover's universities invite 8- to 12-year-olds to five lectures.

For the twenty-first time, the five universities of Hannover are inviting children to a series of lectures. From November to February, girls and boys aged eight to twelve can once again have experts explain topics to them, get answers to curious and exciting questions, and learn facts from everyday life and science. The main aim of the KinderUniHannover is to convey the fun of knowledge and an interest in science.

The KUH lecture series begins on Tuesday, 12 November 2024, at the Hannover Medical School (MHH). Here, children learn how the brain produces thoughts. A week later in November, Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) will be all about Hannover's first influencer, the polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Cows, almonds, oats: at the beginning of December, the colourful world of milk will be opening up at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hannover (HsH). In the new year, at the end of January, children at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) will learn why reptiles get sick and how to help them. And in the lecture in mid-February at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover (HMTMH), the question is why we like to play video games so much. The vividly designed, child-friendly events open up exciting insights into the colourful world of science and promote the curiosity and the urge to research in girls and boys. The patron is Minister of Science Falko Mohrs.

The lectures take place on a Tuesday from 5:15 p.m. to about 6 p.m.; admission is from 4:30 p.m. Participation is free of charge and registration is not required. The lectures are specially designed for children aged 8 to 12. Only children in this age group have free access to the event hall. Parents, other adult companions, and younger or older siblings can follow a live broadcast in an adjacent room.
