They not only achieve outstanding academic results, but also make a special contribution to society: 29 students at MHH have received a Germany Scholarship in the 2024/25 academic year. This means that they will receive financial support of 300 euros per month for one year, half of which is provided by a sponsor and half by the federal government. The scholarship recipients can continue to engage in social activities alongside their studies and take responsibility for others with the support. Special personal circumstances are also taken into account.
The scholarship recipients, their supporters and those responsible for the programme at the university recently met to celebrate the Germany Scholarship. ‘The programme shows that it doesn't always have to be a full scholarship,’ said scholarship holder Dr. Julia Spanier. ’For me personally, the 300 euros a month mean above all more flexibility in childcare, because combining studying and two small children is not always easy. So I am very grateful for the support.’
A total of 17 sponsors supported the Deutschlandstipendium this year, including seven professors from MHH, alumni and a former patient. Ten scholarships were financed by MHH plus foundation. The remaining scholarships were provided by Alumni e.V., the Society of Friends of MHH, the Marburger Bund Niedersachsen and the apoBank Foundation.
In his speech, Professor Rainer Blasczyk explained why he has been committed to the Deutschlandstipendium for many years: ‘During my studies, I was chronically broke. I can well remember that this was a real hindrance when studying. For this reason alone, I consider this form of support for young talent to be important.’
