Application to US funding institutions

German institutions and researchers in Germany can submit applications to a large number of US funding organisations. We support you in the application process. As there are often high administrative requirements, please contact us at an early stage.

Many applications in the USA are submitted via internet platforms (e.g. grants.gov or SAM). The MHH is already registered with many platforms. However, for some platforms, such as the NIH platform eRA Commons, a personal user account must also be created for you. Please contact us in good time.

Financial Conflicts of Interest

Particularly in the case of US federal grants (e.g. NSF and NIH), the funding organisations put emphasis on ensuring that the investigators do not have any financial interests that could influence the projects. The MHH's internal "Policy on the handling of grants from US funding organisations in the context of research projects at Hannover Medical School" takes this into account and is a prerequisite for being able to participate in calls from US funding organisations such as NSF and NIH as a main or sub-recipient.

Among other things, the guideline stipulates that applicants and all named investigators must submit a declaration of significant financial interests at least 14 days before submitting the application. During the project period, this declaration must be regularly renewed by all investigators. Please contact us for the self-declaration form at fwt2-eu-office@mh-hannover.de.

At the same time, these persons confirm their binding participation in the training on financial conflicts of interest („FCOI Online Tutorial“) by submitting the self-disclosure form. Participation must be confirmed by completing and printing out the "Certificate of Completion".

Please sign the self-declaration and send the Certificate of Completion to FWT2 fwt2-eu-office@mh-hannover.de.
