Discussion Group for Caregivers
The discussion group for caregivers meets every two months during lunchtime from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. The event counts as half (45 min.) working time.
Next Appointment:
The next discussion group will be on November 12, 2024, at 12 PM (Seminar Room 6 (I2-S0-1081)) on the topic: Care Directive, Power of Attorney, Advance Directive (Speaker: Kerstin Bugow / Consultant for healthcare planning for the final phase of life). In this event, you will receive information, tips, and support on how to care for relatives (better). Feel free to bring other topics for discussion! (Input and exchange on current topics from participants).

Networking Meeting for Fathers Studying or Working at MHH:
Meetings take place regularly every three months. The goal is to build a cross-disciplinary and hierarchical network for fathers in science and medicine. The exchange and networking of MHH fathers promotes the acceptance of "active fatherhood" and taking on family responsibilities. Regular exchange leads to better mutual understanding and a positive working environment.

The Institute for Boys’ and Men’s Work "mannigfaltig e.V." in Hanover is a point of contact and counseling center for work with boys and men, funded by the region and the city of Hanover. An informational flyer contains various offerings, contact details, and dates for current events, especially for fathers with children. The flyer "Soon Dad" was specifically developed for expectant fathers. A QR code provides specific details on dates, event locations, and partners for expectant fathers.

Workshop: Unconscious Bias (for Recruitment Committee Members)
November 12, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM** - Target Audience: (future and current) recruitment committee members, Room: Conference Room at MHH Lounge
Trainers: Anjana Pengel and Johanna Prien-Kaplan
Content:
- Raising participants’ awareness of gender relations
- How do my thought patterns influence my decisions (in the context of recruitment processes)?
- Critical reflection on one's own gender role and its effects on interactions and structures in organizations
- Participants should be able to incorporate the results and experiences of the workshop into their own professional work
- The trainers demonstrate the relevance and timeliness of the topic
Goal: Raising awareness of the phenomenon of "Unconscious Bias" strengthens the decision-making and leadership skills of participants. They learn to reflect on their own behavior, enabling decisions to be made more objectively and equitably. In addition to theoretical knowledge, practical exercises will also be conducted.
Seguro@Self-Assertion and Self-Defense
Unfortunately, this workshop cannot be offered due to a cancellation by the instructor.
Self-Defense & De-Escalation Training:
Participants will learn self-defense techniques for personal protection.
No prior knowledge or other requirements are necessary. There will also be no warm-up training or similar activities. These courses do not build on one another, so participation is possible at any time.
Various everyday situations (verbal and physical assaults) will be vividly illustrated. Employees are expected to better cope with such potentially unpleasant situations through participation in the seminar. Since each stressful situation develops its own dynamics, different methods will be presented during the seminar.
All employees of MHH are welcome.
Anyone can participate in this seminar—regardless of age, gender, or physical fitness.

An interesting offer for both fathers and mothers is the combined offering from the Parent School: Mothers can participate in a postnatal course while fathers attend a baby massage course with their babies simultaneously. The next combined postnatal and baby massage courses will start again in November 2023.
