Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are pleased to announce the 5th Autoimmune Hepatitis Research Workshop which will be hosted in Hanover, Germany from 27 to 28 June, 2024. This in-person workshop will focus on advancing research in Autoimmune Hepatitis, strengthening existing networks and building new ones.

Thematically, we will continue previous paths with updates on ongoing clinical projects, emphasis on diagnostic and predictive improvements as well as the understanding of AIH pathogenesis. A dedicated session will focus on the patient’s perspective. To learn from researchers with a background other than autoimmune liver diseases, there will be keynote lectures and a dedicated workshop focusing on data curation, AI approaches and what we can learn from other disciplines.

Engaged contributions, active discussions, sharing knowledge and new ideas to create synergies through networking is what this AIH Research Workshop is about.

Looking forward to seeing you in June.

Venue, accommodation and the city of Hanover

Hanover is the capital city of Lower Saxony located centrally in the North of Germany. Hanover is one of the most important traffic junctions in northern Germany and is linked to many destinations in Europe. It has a 24/7 airport with direct flights to and is well connected to the national railway network and the central North/South and West/East Highways A2 and A7. The city features many public parks and green areas for recreational use including the great Hannover woods Eilenriede (one of the largest city forests in Europe) and the Maschsee (an artificial lake) close to the city centre. The city is known for hosting multiple leading trade fairs and an international rarity is the arched elevator at the New Town Hall that is open for the public. The top of the New Town Hall offers a scenic view over the city.

The 4*-Novotel is located at Podbielskistraße 21/23 centrally in Hanover. The Hotel is completely renovated with a modern architecture. History meets the present at the Novotel Hanover: The steam engines of the former Bahlsen biscuit factory can be found here! The meeting venue is located on top of the hotel offering a view over Hannover and Eilenriede woods.

How to get there

By train:
If you arrive by train, take the subways 3, 7 or 13 and exit at Lister Platz. Take the exit to Podbielskistraße after a 2 minute ride and walk approximately 200m north-east. The hotel is located on the left side of the road Podbielskistraße.

By plane:
From Hanover Airport (HAJ) you can either take the regional train S5 to Hanover main station, then follow the signage with the subways 3, 7 or 13 (approx. 35 – 40 minutes and approx. 7 – 10€) or take a cab to the venue (minimum of 20 – 25 minutes depending on the traffic; approximately 40 – 50€).

By car:
Parking space at the side of the road is very limited in this area although it is safe to park there if you happen to find a place. A public indoor car park is right next to Novotel with a direct access to the hotel reception.
