Encouragement tour "How to fight giants" makes a stop at MHH.
There are times in life when it's good to be encouraged by someone. That's why 96 sports director Marcus Mann and the club mascot EDDI came to the children's hospital on 9 September. They were part of an event hosted by David Kadel. The inspiration trainer is touring Germany with his "How to fight giants" project, making stops primarily at children's cancer hospitals and youth psychiatric hospitals. He invited the sports director and the mascot to visit the MHH Children's Hospital. Professor Dr. Philipp Beerbaum, Director of the Clinic for Paediatric Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine, and Annette Wiens from the play area welcomed the group in the courtyard of the children's hospital.
Hold on to your dreams, even in difficult situations
Whether it's a case of plans falling through, defeats or even protracted illnesses: when life is not going well, a little encouragement can help. David Kadel conveyed this to guests both young and old in a sensitive and humorous way. He interviewed Marcus Mann about Hannover 96 and then also asked him very personal questions – for example about the biggest failure in his time as an active player. Mann recalled a botched game against Eintracht Braunschweig. "After that, I was extremely depressed and felt awful," explained the current sports director. "Luckily, I had my father back then, who encouraged me again."
Kadel encouraged the girls and boys in the audience to hold on to their dreams even in difficult life situations. "If you have something you enjoy, you can develop courage, strength and confidence from it." Kadel has collected examples of this in his book "How to Fight Giants". In it, 45 well-known personalities tell their own stories of courage. Kadel had a free copy for each member of the audience. And there were more gifts. Marcus Mann and EDDI generously handed out 96 fan items such as gym bags, flags, rubber ducks, cups, key fobs, colouring sets and much more. Of course, at the end, everyone was invited to play a game.
