Hannover Medical School is a 24/7 operation: at least several hundred of the 10,000 employees work here around the clock every day of the year - including Sundays and public holidays. However, what happens when hunger strikes at 1 a.m. or 5.30 a.m.? Then the canteen and staff cafeteria are closed. "That's exactly why we've now opened our new vending machine café," says MHH Vice President Martina Saurin. Snacks, wraps or small dishes such as bowls can be purchased there at any time. Hot dishes are heated in a special steam device within a minute; drinks are also available.

Hot and cold drinks are also available, as Stefan Birnfeld, Head of the Central Kitchen, explains. Payment is made simply by contactless debit card. Andreas Kohlhase, Head of the Logistics division, has been able to engage a large service provider for the café, who keeps the vending machines freshly stocked. "We first look at which dishes are well received and can adjust the range accordingly."

The vending machine café is located in the former staff cafeteria on the ground floor of the central ward block (building K6), directly below the main entrance. Chairs and tables are available for on-site enjoyment. Enjoy your meal!
