The Department of Nephrology and Hypertension specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with kidney diseases and arterial hypertension. Our research activities are carried out within several independent research groups, embedded in national and international research consortia, and in collaboration with other departments and institutes at Hannover Medical School and our partner institutions. The research profile of the department focuses on kidney transplantation and kidney injury mechanisms, congenital and immunological kidney diseases, as well as hypertension and vascular diseases. Our primary aim is to gain clinically relevant insights for the diagnosis and treatment of our patients, through a combination of clinical trials, model systems, and molecular precision medicine.
