Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
Am 1. und 2. Oktober 2024 findet im Berliner Futurium unser internationales wissenschaftliches Symposium zur Infektionsforschung mit anschließender Diskussionsveranstaltung statt. Dazu laden wir Sie herzlich ein.
Unter dem Titel „Microbes – Connecting Environment and Health” kommen Forschende unserer drei Exzellenzcluster "RESIST – Resolving Infection Susceptibility" (Medizinische Hochschule Hannover), „Balance of the Microverse" (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena) und „Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections" (Universität Tübingen) „an diesen beiden Tagen zusammen, um Perspektiven zu teilen und aktuelle Erkenntnisse zu präsentieren.
Wir freuen uns auf hochkarätige Vortragende, darunter Prof. Dr. Dusan Bogunovic von der Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Prof. Dr. Wolf-Dietrich Hardt von der ETH Zürich und Prof. Dr. Maria Vehreschild vom Frankfurter Universitätsklinikum.
Thematische Schwerpunkte des Symposiums sind:
• Antimikrobielle Resistenz und neue Lösungen
• Resilienz mikrobieller Gemeinschaften
• Anfälligkeit für Infektionen
• Mikrobiom & Gesundheit
Neben dem wissenschaftlichen Teil diskutieren unsere Forschenden unter dem Titel „Infektionsforschung im Dienste der Gesundheit: Ein Dialog zwischen Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft & Politik“ am 1. Oktober von 18:30 bis 20:00 Uhr öffentlich mit Vertreter:innen aus Gesellschaft und Politik.
Diese Diskussionsrunde besteht aus Prof. Dr. Bodo Grimbacher (RESIST), Prof. Dr. Heike Brötz-Oesterhelt (CMFI) und Prof. Dr. Ilse Jacobsen (Microverse) sowie Prof. Dr. Veronika von Messling (BMBF), Volker Stollorz (Science Media Center) und Prof. Dr. Lothar Wieler (Hasso-Plattner-Institut). Den Abend moderiert Michael Pelzer. Die Diskussion erfolgt im interaktiven Fishbowl-Format, bei dem das Publikum herzlich eingeladen ist, mitzudiskutieren.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,
We cordially invite you to attend our international scientific symposium on infection research, which will take place all day on October 1st and 2nd, 2024, at the Futurium in Berlin, followed by a discussion event.
Under the title ”Microbes – Connecting Environment and Health”, researchers from our three Clusters of Excellence „RESIST – Resolving Infection Susceptibility" (Hannover Medical School), "Balance of the Microverse" (Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena), "Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections" (Universiy Tübingen) and will come together on these two days to share perspectives, present current findings and shed some light on important topics.
We look forward to top-class speakers, including Prof. Dr Dusan Bogunovic from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Prof. Dr Wolf-Dietrich Hardt from ETH Zurich and Prof. Dr Maria Vehreschild from Frankfurt University Hospital.
The main topics of the symposium are:

• Infection Susceptibility
• Microbiom & Health
In addition to the scientific part, our researchers will hold a public discussion (in German) with well-known representatives from society and politics under the title “Infection Research in the Service of Health: A Dialogue between Science, Society & Politics” on October 1 st, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
This discussion panel consists of Prof. Dr Bodo Grimbacher (RESIST), Prof. Dr Heike Brötz-Oesterhelt (CMFI) and Prof. Dr Ilse Jacobsen (Microverse), as well as Prof. Dr Veronika von Messling (BMBF), Volker Stollorz (Science Media Center) and Prof. Dr Lothar Wieler (Hasso Plattner Institute). Michael Pelzer moderates the evening. The discussion will take place in an interactive fishbowl format, in which the audience is cordially invited to join.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Futurium for the public evening from 5:30 pm. Before the discussion begins, discover our specially prepared exhibition on the topic of infection research and be inspired by fascinating insights!
