Research Topic: Impact of immunmodulatory treatment of ARDS of different origin
Supervisor: Dr. Theresa Graalmann, Institute for Experimental Infection Research, AG Translationale Immunology, Twincore

As a Ph.D. student in the Infection Biology/DEWIN program at Hannover Medical School (ZIB), I have benefited greatly from its interdisciplinary approach, which has strengthened my critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific communication skills. The program’s specialized workshops and training have expanded my technical expertise, providing valuable tools for addressing key challenges in infection biology. Through seminars, lectures, and discussions on research articles and reviews, I have further developed my ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and stay informed about the latest advancements in the field. This continuous exchange of knowledge has refined my analytical thinking, broadened my perspective on infection biology, and strengthened my research approach. The collaborative research environment and access to cutting-edge resources at MHH have enriched my academic development, fostering a comprehensive understanding of infectious disease research. Mentorship from experienced researchers has been instrumental in guiding my scientific approach and enhancing my research capabilities. This comprehensive training has further solidified my dedication to infectious disease research and strengthened my ability to engage with and contribute to the broader scientific community.

Research Topic: Deciphering the functionality of prenatal-derived γδ T cells in neonatal infections
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Sarina Ravens, Institute of Immunology, MHH

The PhD Program „Infection Biology“ & “DEWIN” (ZIB) at Hannover Medical School (MHH) has all the benefits of a structured PhD program, which include training in Immunology, Virology, Microbiology, as well as critical thinking and science communication to the public. The program will further support you by offering you a supportive research community that will help you professionally throughout our own PhD journey.

The MHH is one of the leading research hospitals in Germany, so it is especially valuable for research with human samples/human models. My current project works with human samples, so it is very important for me to have this research environment. This close contact with the clinical side and the use of several cutting-edge research techniques make MHH the perfect place to do your PhD, especially if you want to work in a more translational way. In my opinion ZIB and MHH offer a great technical and scientific environment for your PhD.
